s ALOHA. Def. del Diccionafri de Telecomunicacions: Protocol per a la transmissió de dades per ràdio desenvolupat a la Universitat de Hawaii a la dècada dels setanta. Precursor dels mètodes d'accés emprats actualment, es va desenvolupar per a resoldre el problema de les col·lisions que es produeixen en el canal ràdio quan es vol transmetre dues o més trames simultàniament (sobreposades en el temps). Els protocols ALOHA permeten que totes les estacions posin informació al canal en temps continus (ALOHA pur) o en temps ranurat (ALOHA ranurat). Mitjançant una retransmissió del receptor cap a l'emissor es poden detectar trames transmeses defectuosament per culpa de col·lisions en el canal. Quan això passa, l'emissor reintenta l'enviament de les trames incorrectes al cap d'un cert temps. La norma IEEE 802.3, que es va introduir amb el sistema ALOHA, afecta xarxes locals amb accés CSMA/CD i és important pel seu ús en la xarxa Ethernet. -
