מוֹשִׁיעַm. (b. h.; יָשַׁע) protector, aid, esp. (by adopting the phrase Deut. 22:27) means of saving a betrothed damsel assaulted. Snh.73a הא יש מ׳ לה בכל דבר שיכול להושיע but if there is aid, any means to save her is permitted (even by the death of the assailant). Ib. יש לה מ׳ איןוכ׳ if there is another way of saving her, you dare not kill him. -
