Какое-то простое величие исходит от действующих лиц, поворотов сюжета, декораций и мест, отмечающих этапы этого поучительного приключения, несмотря на небрежность, с которой подчас оказываются выполнены сцены с активным действием. Дело в том, что Джона Форда в первую очередь занимает движение сердец и душ, а ко всему остальному, что он считал вторичным, режиссер относился весьма беспечно.
