(A)ket(on) — ацетон и греч. eidos — вид]поликарбонильные соединения, представляющие собой вторичные метаболиты бактерий, грибов, растений и животных, синтезируемые из ацетата; семейство разнообразных по биологической активности и фармакологическим свойствам химических соединений (антибиотики, цитостатики, инсектициды и др.), синтезируемых с помощью специального комплекса ферментов под названием поликетидсинтазы.
