■ Part of the penalty area bounded by the goal line and two lines drawn at right angles to the goal line, each 5.5 m (6 yds) from the inside of the nearest goalpost, extending into the field of play for a distance of 5.5 m (6 yds) and joined by a line drawn parallel with the goal line.► A free kick awarded to the defending team inside its own goal area is taken from any point within the goal area.
