ⓘ The Pilgrim Fathers Ce sont les 102 puritains anglais qui débarquèrent sur les côtes du Nouveau Monde en 1620 après avoir traversé l'Atlantique pour fuir les persécutions religieuses en Europe. Ils s'établirent dans le territoire qui correspond au Massachusetts actuel, mais ils ne purent pas faire de plantations cette année-là, et la moitié d'entre eux mourut au cours du premier hiver. L'année suivante, leur récolte leur permit de survivre et donna lieu à la première cérémonie d'Action de Grâces ( Thanksgiving). ⇒ thanksgiving -

Sie segelten in einem Schiff namens "Mayflower" über den Atlantik und gründeten New Plymouth in Neuengland, das im heutigen Bundesstaat Massachusetts liegt, wo sie sich ansiedelten. Damit begann die britische Kolonisierung Amerikas. Die Pilgrim Fathers gelten als die Gründerväter der Vereinigten Staaten, und jedes Jahr wird am Thanksgiving Day wieder ihre erste Ernte gefeiert.
