При работе оптического волокна в квазимонохроматическом режиме на длине волны, большей длины волны отсечки, выходные основные состояния поляризации являются двумя ортогональными выходными состояниями поляризации, для которых выходные поляризации не изменяются, если оптическая частота изменяется незначительно. Соответствующими ортогональными входными состояниями поляризации являются входные PSP. (МСЭ-T G.650.2).
