Система, состоящая из множества частей и элементов, выполняющих некоторые функции и связанных между собой. Эти связи очень сложны и разнообразны, поэтому часто предпочитают термин «сложная система». Впрочем, взгляды специалистов по этому вопросу расходятся: одни считают термины «Б.с.», и «сложная система» идентичными, другие проводят между ними различия. Например, логично считать, что величина системы отражает лишь количество ее элементов и связей между ними, а сложность системы отражает также неоднородность этих элементов и связей. Следует учесть относительность данного понятия. Один и тот же объект в зависимости от цели и условий исследования (цели наблюдателя и средств, имеющихся в его распоряжении) может рассматриваться и не рассматриваться как Б.с.
