Off-Broadway es el término que se utiliza en la jerga del teatro para referirse a las producciones teatrales de Nueva York que no se representan en los famosos escenarios de Broadway. La primera vez que se utilizó esta expresión fue en los años cincuenta, al hablar de obras de bajo presupuesto pero con gran originalidad de dramaturgos como Tennessee Williams o Edward Albee. Estas producciones - tanto las amateur como las más profesionales - suelen representarse en teatros con poco aforo y las entradas suelen ser bastante asequibles. También existe el término off-off Broadway, para referirse a los teatros que presentan obras aún más vanguardistas. -
