1. ( international standard book number) (ancien: 10 chiffres)L’ISBN (international standard book number) est un numéro international normalisé permettant l’identification d’un livre afin de faciliter les diverses opérations de gestion (commande, recherche, inventaire, etc.). Ce numéro est attribué avant publication pour identifier un titre ou l’édition d’un titre publié par un éditeur déterminé, le numéro attribué correspondant uniquement à une édition donnée. Approuvé dès 1972 en tant que norme ISO 2108 (ISO (Organisation internationale de normalisation), l’ISBN comporte 10 chiffres répartis en 4 segments séparés par un tiret. Le premier segment identifie la zone linguistique (2 pour les pays francophones). Le deuxième segment identifie l’éditeur. Le troisième segment est un numéro d’ordre identifiant le livre dans la production de l’éditeur. Le quatrième segment est une clé de contrôle. En 2003, l’ISBN est utilisé dans 159 pays et territoires, regroupés au sein de l’International ISBN Agency. L’ISBN passe à 13 chiffres le 1er janvier 2007.Voir aussi: ISO.2. ( international standard book number) (nouveau: 13 chiffres)A compter du 1er janvier 1007, sous l’égide de l’International ISBN Agency, l’ISBN (international standard book number) passe à treize chiffres et correspond désormais au numéro EAN-13 (EAN: European article number) servant à générer le code-barres et figurant sous celui-ci. Ceci en application de la nouvelle norme ISO 2908 (ISO: Organisation internationale de normalisation), d’une part pour augmenter la capacité de numérotation de l’ISBN du fait de l’augmentation du nombre de publications, y compris électroniques, d’autre part pour harmoniser ces deux numéros (ISBN et EAN) et faciliter ainsi les diverses opérations de gestion électronique (commande, recherche, inventaire, etc.). Tous les ISBN débutent désormais par le préfixe 978, qui est ajouté aux 10 chiffres des ISBN existants. Leur clé de contrôle est également recalculée pour être identique à celle de l’EAN-13. Pour certains pays (France, Belgique et pays d’Afrique francophone), les numéros ISBN et EAN sont attribués par l’AFNIL (Agence francophone pour la numérotation internationale du livre). -

Basée à Genève (Suisse), l’ISO (Organisation internationale de normalisation) définit les normes permettant de faciliter l’échange international des biens et des services. L’ISO a également pour tâche de développer la coopération internationale dans divers domaines (économique, intellectuel, scientifique et technique). Des normes ISO régissent entre autres l’ASCII-Latin-1 (ASCII: American standard code for information interchange), l’ISBN (international standard book number) ou l’UNIMARC (universal readable machine cataloguing). -

(World Wide Web Consortium)Le W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) est l’organisme international de normalisation du web. Il s’agit d’un consortium industriel fondé en octobre 1994 pour développer les protocoles communs nécessaires à la croissance du web et guider ainsi cette croissance en définissant les standards nécessaires. Dirigé par Tim Berners-Lee, l’inventeur du web en 1989, le W3C comprend plus de 400 membres: vendeurs de produits et services, fournisseurs de contenu, entreprises, laboratoires de recherche, organismes de normalisation et gouvernements. Le W3C est par exemple responsable des spécifications du langage HTML (hypertext markup language) et du langage XML (extensible markup language). Le langage HTML est le format de publication sur le web. Le langage XML permet de définir des marqueurs afin de structurer les données d’un document (en-têtes, colonnes, marges ou tableaux) pour publication électronique ou échange de données. -
