A natural resource which, in terms of human time scales, is contained within the Earth in a fixed quantity and therefore can be used once only in the foreseeable future (although it may be recycled after its first use). This includes the fossil fuels and is extended to include mineral resources and sometimes ground water, although water and many minerals are renewed eventually. (Source: ALL)

11 NATURAL RESOURCES
Природные ресурсы
Созданные природой и используемые человеком в своей производственной деятельности материальные ресурсы, такие как земля, минеральное сырье, леса, реки и т.д. Некоторые из этих ресурсов восполнимы (renewable resources), в то время как большая их часть - это невозобновляемые ресурсы (exhaustible resources). По мере истощения их запасов цена на эти ресурсы растет, что стимулирует поиск новых природных или искусственных заменителей. Существуют также ресурсы «неоднократного потребления» (non-expendable resources), например, живописный пейзаж, обладающий полезностью для человека и приносящий владельцу земли доход от туризма.
