1923-2003Sorprende este director de television, nacido en Atlanta, Georgia, que de vez en cuando realiza un largometraje para la gran pantalla, habitualmente con correccion, como poco. Destaca en su poco extensa filmografia para el medio cinematografico un lujoso western (lujoso, sobre todo, por el reparto), lleno de originalidad, centrado en el complejo mun do del juego del poker, y en tono de comedia.A Big Hand for the Little Lady (El destino tambien juega). 1966. 95 minutos. 4 Gordon, Michael
1909-1993Alumno de la Universidad de Yale, sus origenes artisticos son teatrales. Llega a Hollywood como dialoguista para Columbia y en 1942 dirige su primer largometraje. En Universal consigue que se le encomienden proyectos mas costosos. Su carrera se ve cortada durante ocho anos a comienzos de los 50, al ser incluido en la lista negra por el tristemente ce lebre Comite de Actividades Antinorteamericanas. Aunque no es especialmente brillante, consigue prestigio y exito con filmes como Cyrano de Ber gerac (1950), el penultimo antes de su involuntario pa ron profesional, y Confidencias de medianoche (Pillow Talk, 1959), la primera de su segunda etapa como director, pelicula esta ultima que inicia el fenomeno Doris Day y que sumerge a Gordon en el mun do de la comedia descafeinada propia de comienzos de los 60.The Secret of Convict Lake. 1951. 83 minutos.
