Nota d'usoLa locuzione imparare a memoria corrisponde all'inglese “to learn by heart”, non “by memory”: Ho imparato la poesia a memoria, I learnt the poem by heart (non I learnt the poem by memory). In alternativa, si può usare il verbo “to memorize”: Non sono bravo a mandare a memoria le date, I'm not good at memorizing dates. Tra le due opzioni c'è una leggera differenza: “to learn by heart” è usato principalmente quando si deve in seguito declamare ciò che si è appreso (ad esempio una poesia); mentre “to memorize” significa memorizzare per un futuro uso (ad esempio date, formule matematiche, ecc.). -
