1 mail-roman
Le mail-roman est créé au fur et à mesure par l’auteur et envoyé par courriel à une liste de diffusion selon une périodicité déterminée. L’auteur peut prendre en compte les réactions et suggestions des lecteurs pour écrire la suite de l’histoire. Le premier mail-roman francophone est Rien n’est sans dire, de Jean-Pierre Balpe, paru pendant cent jours consécutifs entre le 11 avril et le 19 juillet 2001. -
2 Balpe, Jean-Pierre
Jean-Pierre Balpe est chercheur, théoricien de la littérature informatique et écrivain. Il a été le directeur du département hypermédias de l’Université Paris 8. Il est l’auteur d’ouvrages scientifiques et techniques et d’ouvrages de fiction (poèmes, romans et nouvelles). Dès 1975, il s’intéresse aux possibilités que l’informatique offre à l’écriture littéraire. En 1981, il est l’un des co-fondateurs de l’ALAMO (Atelier de littérature assistée par la mathématique et les ordinateurs). Depuis 1989, il réalise des logiciels d’écriture principalement utilisés lors d’expositions ou de manifestations publiques. Il est aussi l’auteur de romans interactifs et génératifs utilisant l’internet (Trajectoires, Mail-Roman, etc.) et de spectacles utilisant des générateurs de texte (parfois couplés avec des générateurs de musique ou de scénographie). Il considère que "les technologies numériques sont une chance extraordinaire du renouvellement du littéraire". Entre moult réalisations, il est l’auteur du premier mail-roman, à savoir un roman diffusé par courriel. Entre le 11 avril et le 19 juillet 2001, pendant très exactement cent jours, il écrit et diffuse quotidiennement un chapitre de Rien n’est sans dire à cinq cents personnes (sa famille, ses amis, ses collègues, etc.) en s’inspirant des réponses et des réactions des lecteurs pour écrire la suite. En 2005, il anime également plusieurs blogs consacrés à l’hyperfiction (roman ou poésie). -
3 littérature numérique
Apparue avec le développement de l’internet, du web et des technologies numériques, la littérature numérique (appelée aussi littérature informatique ou littérature électronique) regroupe divers genres: site d’écriture hypermédia, roman multimédia, hyper-roman, nouvelle hypertexte, feuilleton hypermédia, mail-roman, etc. -
