Geheimnis, res arcana, secreta, occulta, recondita (s. »geheim« den Untersch. der Adjektt.). – res silenda (worüber man nicht laut werden darf). – mysterium, bes. im Plur. mysteria (τἀ μνστήρια, die bekannten griech. Mysterien od. Geheimlehren; übtr., mysteria = die Geheimnisse übh., z.B. rhetorum: u. epistulae nostrae tantumhabentmysteriorum, ut etc.: u. im Sing. in Beziehungen wie: tacitum tamquam mysterium tenent: u. quod veluti mysterium occultarunt magi). – die Geheimnisse, arcana. secreta. occulta. recondita (alle n. pl., s. »geheim« die Adjektt.); commissa,n. pl. (insgeheim anvertraute Dinge); silenda, n. pl. (über die man schweigen soll, z.B. einer geheimen Gesellschaft etc.); verb. arcana et silenda. – Geheimnisse des Herzens, animi secreta; occulta pectoris. – die Sache ist eben kein großes G., haec res sane non est recondita: das ist ein öffentliches G., haec palam secreto narrantur: das ist kein G. mehr, hoc in vulgus exiit od. emanavit: ein, kein G. aus etwas machen, s. »geheimhalten, nicht geheim halten«: ich sage dir das als G., s. »geheimhalten«: sie haben auch kein G. voreinander, nec quicquam secretum alter ab altero habent.
