Крупный торгово-финансовый, культурный центр. Химическая, машиностроительная и металлообрабатывающая, легкая промышленность. Университет. Впервые упоминается в 374. В кон. 15-16 вв. – центр торговли, ремесла, кредитных операций, книгопечатания. Романско-готический собор (1185-1200; скульптурные порталы), ратуша (1504-1608, ренессанс). -
