4 -bello e beautiful-
Nota d'usoL'aggettivo bello non corrisponde sempre all'inglese “beautiful”. -
5 -dresses o clothes?-
6 -golf e jumper-
Nota d'usoIl sostantivo italiano golf nel senso di maglione di lana in inglese corrisponde a “jumper”: Ho ricevuto un bel golf per il mio compleanno, I got a lovely jumper for my birthday (non letteralmente: I got a lovely golf for my birthday). Golf in inglese indica solo lo sport. -
7 -marmalade o jam?-

15 -fresh, cool o cold?-
16 -odour o smell?-
“Smell” è inoltre spesso usato come verbo: C'è una puzza terribile qui dentro, it smells horrible in here; Profuma di rose, it smells of roses. Quando “smell” è usato da solo, sia come sostantivo, sia come verbo, ha una connotazione negativa: C'è puzza qui dentro, it smells (o there's a smell) in here. -
