Nota d'usoQuando to like è seguito da un verbo, questo può essere nella forma in -ing o all'infinito preceduto da to. L'uso dell'infinito è più comune in inglese americano, mentre nel Regno Unito si utilizza di norma la forma in -ing. Inoltre, in inglese britannico, c'è una sottile differenza di significato tra le due costruzioni. Se si usa l'infinito si vuole sottolineare il fatto che si pensa che l'azione in questione sia una buona idea: I like to have a nap after lunch, mi piace fare un sonnellino dopo pranzo (perché dopo sono più produttivo, sveglio ecc.).
