The ledger may be subdivided as follows: the sales ledger/debtors ledger contains the personal accounts of all customers; the purchases ledger/creditors ledger contains all the personal accounts of suppliers; the private ledger contains accounts relating to the proprietor’s interest in the business such as capital and drawings; the general ledger/ nominal ledger contains all other accounts relating to assets, expenses, revenue, and liabilities. -
