Потери фирмы в результате превышения ее расходов над доходами. В краткосрочной периоде, если совокупные доходы фирмы недостаточны для покрытия переменных издержек, она обычно уходит из отрасли. Исключение составляет случай, когда фирма считает такое положение временным и способна продолжать производство, несмотря на убытки. В долгосрочной перспективе, однако, если доходы фирмы не позволяют покрыть переменные и постоянные издержки, она вынуждена покинуть отрасль. См.
