Профессиональный наёмный убийца. Это слово пришло из жаргона американского преступного мира и так называемых law enforcement agencies (агентств по проведению закона в жизнь). К 1972 г. оно распространилось по всему англоговорящему миру благодаря теле- и кинофильмам. Hit-men также называют contract killers (убийцы по контракту). To hire someone to kill someone else (нанять кого-либо для убийства кого-либо другого) значит to put out a contract on the victim (составить контракт на жертву). -
