Suministro un punado de irrelevantes peliculas baratas, una de las cuales es un mediocre western musical con la estrella Louis Jordan al frente de su elenco interpretativo. Su afan por el ahorro fue tal que interpreto el mismo un papel en su pelicula Victims of Persecution (1933), al parecer por ahorrarse el par de cientos de dolares que hubiera costado contratar a un actor. Dirigio un total de trece peliculas. De sus filmes se decia que tenian mas movimiento y eran mas interesantes los carteles anunciadores que las peliculas mismas. 1913-1957Actor, productor y director teatral, fue el creador del Little Theatre of Memphis y profesor de arte dramati co en la Southwestern University. Lo contrata Co lumbia como dialoguista en 1947. En 1949 es promovido a director, siempre como realizador de las peliculas de bajo presupuesto interpretadas por Charles Starrett. Permanecio durante toda su carrera en Co lumbia, trabajando la mayor parte del tiempo para la unidad de produccion de Sam Katzman, que se caracterizaba por la extrema modestia de sus presupuestos. 1907-1979Nacido en Winterset, Iowa, Marion Michael Morrison fue un excelente deportista. Un poco por azar em pieza a tener pequenos papeles en peliculas y conoce al director John Ford. Despues de dos anos de trabajo en Fox obtiene su primer papel principal en La gran jornada (The Big Trail, Raoul Walsh, 1930), pero el fracaso comercial de la pelicula lo relego a ser cabeza de algunas series, en Monogram y en Republic sobre todo, dirigido por Robert North Brad bury y otros realizadores de parecido pelaje. Con La diligencia (Stagecoach, John Ford, 1939) alcanzo de finitivamente el estrellato, participando en lo sucesivo en proyectos de diversa indole hasta 1976, en que interpreto su ultima pelicula. Aunque actuo en peliculas belicas y, en general, en filmes de todo tipo, sobre todo de accion, siempre sera recordado como uno de los reyes del western. En dos ocasiones se puso detras de las camaras, la segunda de ellas para realizar un producto detestable de propaganda belica, Boinas verdes (Green Berets, 1968), codirigida por Ray Kellogg; la primera, para rodar, se dice que con alguna augusta colaboracion, una estimable cronica de la caida de El Alamo.The Alamo (El Alamo). 1960. 192 minutos.
