ἀγρέω (= ἀγρεύω, αἱρέω), jagen, fangen, χρόνῳ ἀγρεῖ πόλιν Aesch. Ag. 125; ἀγρεῖς μορμύρον Phani. 7 (VI, 304). Sonst nur imper-praes., ἄγρει δ' οἶνον ἐρυϑρόν Archil. ftg. 49, nimm den Wein. Bei Hom. wird ἄγρει eine förmliche Interjection, wohlan, so daß immer noch ein anderer imperat. folgt: ἄγρει μάν οἱ ἔπορσον Ἀϑηναίην Il. 5, 765, vgl. 7, 459. 11, 512. 14, 271 Od. 21, 176. Der plur. ἀγρεῖτε ebenso Od. 20, 149; also ganz wie ἄγε, ἄγετε. So auch Sp. Ep., z. B. Ap. Rh. 1, 487.
