ἐπειδάν (d. i. ἐπειδὴ ἄν), nachdem, wann, etwas noch Unentschiedenes, aber für das folgende Hauptverbum als wirklich Angenommenes ausdrückend, auch wohl die Allgemeinheit od. eine wiederholte Handlung in der Gegenwart ausdrückend: jedesmal dann, wann; Hom. ταρβεῖ, ἐπειδὰν πρῶτον ἐςίζηται λόχον ἀνδρῶν, sobald als, Il. 13, 285; gew. bei folgendem fut. mit dem conj. aor. als fut. exact. zu fassen, ἐπειδὰν διαπράξωμαι ἥξω, wann, sobald ich es ausgerichtet haben werde, Xen. An. 2, 3, 29; ἐπειδὰν αὐτοὶ κτάνωσιν – τίς ἂν πόροι Aesch. Spt. 716; ἐπειδὰν σὺ βούλῃ διαλέγεσϑαι, τότε σοι διαλεξόμεϑα Plat. Prot. 335 b; ἐπειδὰν ϑᾶττον συνιῇ τις τὰ λεγόμενα, sobald als er versteht, 325 c; ἐπειδὰν μὲν – ὅταν δέ 319 b. – Auch in indirecter Rede, εἶπε δέ, ὅτι, ἐπειδὰν τάχιστα ἡ στρατεία λήξῃ, εὐϑὺς ἀποπέμψει αὐτόν Xen. An. 3, 1, 9; in welchem Falle Dem. 30, 6 der opt. steht, δίκην με λήψεσϑαι, ἐπειδὰν τάχιστα ἀνἡρ εἶναι δοκιμασϑείην, für ἐπειδή, bei Xen. Cyr. 1, 3, 18, ὅπως οὖν μὴ ἀπολῇ μαστιγούμενος, ἐπειδὰν οἴκοι εἴης, ist wohl der conj. mit Schneider vorzuziehen. Incorrect von der wiederholten Handlung in der Vergangenheit, ἐπειδὰν ἴδοιμι τὴν γραῦν – ἄρτον ἤσϑιον Luc. Amor. 21; doch haben auch sonst Sp. den opt. für den conj.
