Сад Аллаха снят примерно через год после 1-го фильма в трехцветном формате «Technicolor» (Беки Шарп, Becky Sharp, 1935), и это уже 5-й фильм в истории кино, использующий эту технологию. По красоте видеоряда, в котором преобладают желтый, красный и коричневый цвета, это одна из самых удивительных картин во всем американском кино. Благодаря цвету эта религиозная мелодрама, где религия служит лишь оберткой для дикого, нелепого и причудливого сюжета, становится доказательством волшебной силы кинематографа, способной преобразить и возвысить что угодно, даже самую бездарную побасенку. Следует полностью раствориться в этом волшебстве - подобно тому, как герои фильма, преодолевая границы христианской веры, предаются восточному фатализму, счастью и несчастью, на которые их обрекли высшие силы без их участия. Есть такие фильмы, понять которые можно только при условии внимательности и активного соучастия зрителя.
