en flagrante; sorprender a alguien en flagrante delito; coger a alguien en el momento que está cometiendo el delito: „agarrar a alguien con con las manos en la masa" [corrupción lingüística de la expresión latina in flagranti: 'sorprendido en el momento de cometerse el delito, sin que el autor haya podido huir' - no debe emplearse, escríbase 'en flagrante']◘ Locución originada por deformación de la expresión jurídica latina in flagranti ( delicto), que significa 'en el mismo momento en que se comete un delito o, por extensión, cualquier acción censurable': " Se había instalado aquí cerca [...] con objeto de espiar a su mujer y sorprenderla in fraganti" (Landero Juegos [Esp. 1989]). Se usa con preferencia a las locuciones de sentido análogo en flagrante y en fragante. No son correctas las formas * en fraganti, * in fragante ni * in fragranti. A partir de la locución, se ha creado el adverbio simple infraganti, cuyo uso se considera válido: " Yo los había sorprendido infraganti" (CInfante Habana [Cuba 1986]).
