שָׁמַע(b. h.) (to be still,) to hear, listen, obey; to understand. R. Hash. IV, 2 כל עיר … ושוֹמַעַתוכ׳ every township near Jerusalem from where you can see (the city) and hear (the Shofar) Ib. 21b עד שיִשְׁמְעוּ … מקודש until they heard from the mouth of the court mḳuddash (v. קָרַש).
