lauter, merus (lauter, unvermischt, v. Wein; dann auch wie unser »lauter« – nichts als, s. unten). – purus (rein übh., z.B. aurum; übtr. auch Sinn, Gemüt). – integer (moralisch unverdorben, unbescholten). – ein l. Wandel (Lebenswandel), vita integra; vitae integritas: die l. Wahrheit, veritas simplex; veritas ipsa: das ist die l. Wahrheit, hoc quidem verissimum est: die l. Absichten des Mannes, integritas hominis. – In weit. Bed. ist »lauter« = nichts als etc. und wird entweder durch merus (aber nur in bezug auf Dinge) ausgedrückt, z.B. von l. Krieg reden, merum bellum loqui: l. Lügen erzählen, mera mendacia narrare. – od. durch andere Wendungen umschrieben, in bezug auf Perf. bes. durch quisque mit dem Superlativ, in bezug auf Perf. od. Dinge durch omnis (aller und jeder), magnus, summus, sin gularis (d.i. groß, sehr [1555] groß, ausgezeichnet), z.B. man muß l. Klassiker lesen, optimus quisque legendus est: man hob 358 aus, l. vornehme Leute, trecenti quinquaginta octo delecti, nobilissimus quisque: es wurden l. Patrizier gewählt, omnes patricii creati sunt: die Stadt hatte l. beschwerliche Zugänge, urbs omnes aditus difficiles habebat.
