62 Bulgarian Needlework
Oriental work done in Constantinople by refugees from Bulgaria. The base fabric was hand woven, coarse black or white cotton cloth. The embroidery was in gold and silver thread and very beautiful, being the same on both sides. A cotton cloth made in India and bleached. It is hand-woven in plain weave, about 56-ends, 26's warp, 52 picks, 30's weft per inch. -

Hand woven, loose fleecy cloth, used for clothing, made by the natives of Samoa. One side of the cloth is plain and the other is made fleecy by looping long bunches of the fibre into the ground. -

A Chinese term for silk foulard with embossed patterns. The fabric is made of native silk, hand woven in warp-satin weave and 16-in. to 18-in. wide. -
75 Kohura Hanaoji
A Japanese hand-woven cotton fabric, made of two-fold warp yams with coarse weft to give cord or rib effects. It is cut into strips, rolled and sewn to form cord for the Japanese clogs. -
76 Leather Silk
A silk fabric hand woven in Japan, 45 -in. wide, from black dyed silk warp and silver-grey dyed silk weft. It is made in several qualities and shades of these two colours. The weft is very stiff and gives the fabric a leathery feel. Used for drapery and hangings. -
77 Magrabine
A coarse plain weave Egyptian hand-woven cloth, made of flax yarns in Egypt and used locally. -
78 Marry-Muff
A coarse fabric worn by the peasantry in mediaeval England. Plain weave, woollen yarns and hand woven. -
79 Mingchow
A hand-woven silk brocade produced by the natives in the Hangchow district, China, and used for garments. The fabric is cheap and used locally. -
80 Nago Nodzi
A hand-woven blanket, made by the Navajo Indians with black and white stripes running weft way, occasionally with a little red. It has red tassels at the corners.
