Долговое обязательство казначейства США [ Treasury, U.S.]. Считается наиболее надежным вложением средств. Облигации делятся на две категории: свободно обращающиеся и именные. Сберегательные облигации [ savings bond] не могут быть проданы после их приобретения. Это облигации серии "ЕЕ" [Series EE bonds], их приобретают за 50 процентов номинальной стоимости, а через 5 лет по ним выплачивается полная номинальная стоимость. По облигациям серии "HH" [Series HH bonds] достоинством в 500, 1000, 5000 и 10 000 долларов раз в полгода выплачиваются проценты. Свободно обращающиеся облигации подразделяются на три категории: казначейские билеты [ treasury bills] - краткосрочные государственные долговые обязательства; сроки платежей по ним 3 месяца, полгода или год. Они продаются со скидкой по сравнению с номиналом, минимальное достоинство - 10 тыс. долларов. Второй тип - казначейские облигации [ treasury bonds], срок выплаты до 10 лет; выпускаются достоинством 500, 1000, 5000, 10000 долларов и выше.
