5 Giant Magnetoresistance
(GMR)Гигантское магнитосопротивление (ГМС)Квантово-механический эффект, наблюдаемый в тонких плёнках, состоящих из чередующихся ферромагнитных и немагнитных слоёв. В такой системе эффект проявляется в существенном уменьшении электросопротивления в присутствии внешнего магнитного поля. ГМС в 200 раз сильнее обычного магнитосопротивления. Эффект был открыт независимо друг от друга в 1988-89 гг. двумя группами под руководством А.Фера и П.Грюнберга, за что им была присуждена Нобелевская премия по физике за 2007 год. В 1997 г. компанией IBM были созданы считывающие головки для жестких дисков, основанные на явлении ГМС. Они обладали высокой чувствительностью к магнитному полю при малом геометрическом размере, что позволило сократить размер бита и, следовательно, значительно увеличить емкость носителей.Спиновый вентиль на основе эффекта ГМС. Состоит из двух магнитных слоев (NiFe) и (Co), разделенных немагнитной прослойкой (Cu). Магнитный момент одного из слоев закреплен антиферромагнитным слоем (АФМ) с фиксированным направлением магнитного момента. В то же время намагниченность второго слоя может свободно изменяться под действием внешнего магнитного поля. Когда этот "сэндвич" помещается даже в слабое магнитное поле, верхний "свободный" слой легко изменяет конфигурацию магнитных моментов вслед за полем, выстраивая их антипараллельно нижнему слою. При этом реализуется эффект гигантского магнитосопротивления.
