Изокванта
Кривая, изображающая различные сочетания двух факторов, используемых для производства данного количества продукции при неизменном уровне технологических достижений. Рассмотрим график:
Например, фермер может произвести 50 т зерна, используя пять комбайнов и труд пяти работников или четыре комбайна и труд 10 работников. Изокванта имеет нисходящий наклон вправо, что отражает возможность заменять один фактор производства на другой (см. Marginal rate of technical substitution). Изокванта изогнута относительно начала координат, поскольку факторы не являются абсолютными субститутами, хотя и взаимозаменяемы. Таким образом, предельная норма технического замещения одного фактора другим снижается по мере продвижения по кривой вниз слева направо. Изокванта схожа с кривой безразличия (см. Indifference curve). Точка пересечения изокосты и изокванты (на графике точка А) показывает такое сочетание факторов, при котором данное количество продукции будет произведено с наименьшими затратами. См. Кривая, отображающая изменение состояния платежного баланса страны в результате девальвации ее валюты от первоначального дефицита к последующему профициту. Рассмотрим график. 
Увеличение дефицита платежного баланса происходит из-за отставания по времени выравнивания объема торговли относительно девальвации. Девальвация валюты влечет за собой быстрое снижение экспортных цен и рост цен на импорт. Это означает, что экспорт приносит меньше иностранной валюты, а импорт поглощает ее в большем количестве, увеличивая дефицит (кривая идет вниз). Однако спустя некоторое время более низкие экспортные цены приведут к росту спроса за границей, и поступления от экспорта увеличатся. Более высокие импортные цены вызовут снижение внутреннего спроса на импорт, что приведет к его сокращению. В результате этого произойдет улучшение состояния платежного баланса (кривая пойдет вверх).
