Разрушение, которому предшествует значительная пластическая деформация, протекающая по всему (или почти по всему) объему тела. Вязкое разрушение материала начинается с образования микронадрывов и микропустот, которые при нагружении растут и объединяются между собой в результате вытягивания и разрыва перемычек, образуя общую поверхность разрушения — излом ямочного рельефа. При растяжении цилиндрических образцов из пластичных материалов формируется излом типа «чашечка-конус», а из очень пластичных — типа острия.
