ἐάν (Hom.+) fundamentally introduces a situation in which given X, Y will follow (B-D-F §31, 1; 107; 371, 4; 372, 1a; 373; Mlt. and Rob., indices)① as conj., marker of condition, with probability of activity expressed in the verb left open and thereby suited esp. for generalized statements, if (only rarely [1 Cor 6:4; 11:14, as e.g. Lucian, Vit.
