101 Lace Bark
A fine, thin, lace-like bast fibre obtained from the Lagetta Lintearia tree in Jamaica. Used for dress trimmings, hats, cordage, etc. It is rather a fabric than a fibre as it occurs in concentric layers which are easily detachable and when stretched out forms a hexagonal mesh very similar to lace. Cloth made from material has been imported into Liverpool under the name Guano. -
102 Lama Flannel
An all-wool plain weave cloth in a nap finish, also made 2 & 2 twill. Used for dress purposes and linings. Dyed or woven stripes on a cream or white ground. -
103 Linen Crash
An all-linen fabric, woven from coarse yarns which is made 24 ends and 24 picks per inch, 22's lea warp and weft. A similar cloth is made for dress purposes in which a flake weft is used - The weft is red and green flakes. These fabrics only require pressing after leaving the loom. A feature of the fabric is the irregularity of the yarn. -
104 Linomple
A fabric used by wealthy women in France in the 15th century, for dress purposes. It is similar to lawn, being a very fine plain weave all-linen fabric. Later, bed curtains and drapery were made of it. It was made at Arras, Cambrai, Valenciennes, etc. The cloth was latterly called linon. -

Also known as Lustre Orleans. It is a plain weave cloth with fine cotton warp and worsted weft. It is very closely woven and used for dress purposes. A typical cloth is made 60 ends and 140 picks per inch, 40's/56's Egyptian warp. Botany weft. This cloth was first made in 1856 by Mr. Barratt, who produced the cloth as "Summer Cloth" at the request of an American customer. He produced a plain weave cloth, diagonal twill, three-shaft twill and a crepe. -
111 Orleans Linings
A fabric made in Bradford, and used as a lining for dress goods. Yarns are fine cotton warp, worsted weft, either plain weave or figured, and generally dyed. Other styles have a mixture weft of cotton and alpaca. -

A heavy very high-class silk satin is known under this name. It has a smooth face and is used for dress purposes. -

A light-weight Yorkshire woollen cloth, generally with the prunelle twill weave; used for dress purposes. The heavy types are double cloths with a fine face and coarse back. -
119 Rajah
A silk cloth of very firm texture, wide and rough, piece-dyed in all colours. The warp is a four-thread organzine made of ordinary and tussah silk combined and the weft a coarse and rough tussah. First made about 1892 in the U.S.A. for dress material. -
120 Repps, Imitation
REPPS, IMITATIONA cotton cloth in plain weave, about 80 ends and 60 picks per inch, 32's warp, 16's weft. Piece-dyed and printed in designs suitable for dress wear.
