Также выделяют дисперсный режим. ( , )В случае, если основной фазой, движущейся по трубе, является газ, который также транспортирует некоторое количество жидкости, существуют две модели описания этого явления - модель непрерывной пленки и модель захваченных капель (entrained drop model). Модель непрерывной пленки подразумевает, что жидкость движется по стенкам трубы, увлекаемая газом, который движется по центральной части трубы. Модель захваченных капель подразумевает, что жидкость состоит из капель, находящихся в подвешенном состоянии и увлекаемых потоком газа. Капельки удерживают форму благодаря силам поверхностного натяжения, капли размера, превосходящего определенное предельное значение, распадаются. Зная плотность газа и жидкости, можно записать баланс сил для каждой капельки и оценить предельную скорость (terminal velocity) самых больших капель. Скорость газа, необходимая для подъема жидкости, называется минимальной скоростью подъема (minimum lift velocity). Для горизонтального трубопровода Беггз и Брилл выделяют 3 основные группы режимов потока ( MPF 252, ) - разделенный (segregated flow regime), прерывистый (intermittent flow regime) и распределенный (distributed flow regime). Разделенный режим потока - режим, при котором фазы разделены, это расслоенный режим (stratified flow regime), волновой режим (wavy flow regime) и режим пленки (annular flow regime). Прерывистый режим потока - режим, при котором одна фаза перемежается с другой, это пробковый, снарядный и поршневой режим (plug flow, slug flow).
