1896-1980Actor infantil de vodevil, junto a su padre y a su hermana Ruth, debuta en Broadway en 1921. En 1929 lo encontramos ya trabajando en el cine como actor, para pasar, poco despues, a dirigir. Valioso director de genero, muy apreciado en el ambito profesional como realizador de comedias, tarea en la que cosecho algunos importantes exitos, estuvo en activo hasta 1952, rodando 31 peliculas en total. Una de las ultimas es su version de la novela de Scott Fitz gerald The Great Gatsby (1949), que protagonizo Alan Ladd.
