102 Brush Finish
A machine, as illustrated, is used, which cleans the grey cloth and removes all loose leaf, etc. It gives a very slight nap to the fabric. The effect is to produce a soft woolly handle. The machine is provided with three serpentine brushes and four emery rollers, with a plaiting motion. The cloth is guided under and over as many rollers and brushes as are required to give the desired handle -

104 Croydon Finish
A finishing process which gives a thready appearance to cotton fabrics. The cloth is first run through a hot-water mangle, lightly dried, beetled, calendered, beetled again and then pressed. -
105 Dress-Pace Finish
Such cloths as beavers, billiard cloth, doeskins, pilots, and other heavily felted and raised woollen fabrics, are dress-face finished. During the finishing the fabrics are made dense and fibrous by " felting," then the fibres are drawn to the surface, straightened and combed in one direction by " raising " and lustre is given in a boiling process. The finished fabric is covered with a short nap so that the weave is entirely hidden. -

A special finishing process used for cotton and worsted mixed fabrics and is a mercerising operation without stretch. The cotton yarn shrinks up to 25 per cent, giving a crepon effect to the cloth. The warps are usually end and end cotton and worsted with cotton weft. -
112 Keymo Finish
A finishing process that renders woollens and worsteds unshrinkable by treating in a solution containing sulphuric acid. Useful for shirtings, flannels and sports fabrics. The material must be all wool, as other fibres are destroyed by the action of the acid. -

This is a finishing process to give a fabric the soft and smooth handle of chamois leather. It is produced by rubbing the fibres by means of rapidly revolving rollers covered with carborundum or some other material The fabric is passed in a stretched condition through the machine. -
