(временная структура процентных ставок) Взаимосвязь между доходами (yields) от ценных бумаг с фиксированным процентом (таких, как государственные облигации) и сроком их погашения. Одним из важнейших факторов, влияющих на временную структуру процентных ставок, является ожидание изменения процентных ставок. Например, если первоначально краткосрочные и долгосрочные облигации приносят одинаковый доход и инвесторы ожидают, что процентные ставки упадут, долгосрочные облигации становятся относительно более привлекательными, так как, будучи ценными бумагами с фиксированным процентом, они продолжат приносить доход по стабильной ставке процента в течение долгого времени, несмотря на падение рыночных процентных ставок. Затем, в результате арбитража (arbitrage), цены на эти бумаги будут расти, а приносимый ими доход-падать; таким образом доходы по краткосрочным облигациям превысят доходы по долгосрочным облигациям. График, показывающий взаимосвязь между числом лет, остающихся до погашения ценной бумаги, и доходом по ней, называется кривой доходности (yield curve).
