[ˌfaɪbeɪtǝ'kæpǝ]N (US) (Univ) asociación de antiguos alumnos sobresalientes PHI BETA KAPPA La sociedad honorífica Phi Beta Kappa fue fundada en Estados Unidos en 1776 para estudiantes universitarios con aptitudes académicas sobresalientes. Los miembros se eligen durante el tercer o cuarto año de sus estudios y el nombre proviene de las iniciales griegas que forman el lema de la asociación: philosophia biou kubernetes (la filosofía como motor de vida). A cada miembro se lo conoce como un Phi Beta Kappa o un Phi Beta Kappa student. -
