       Frances, pertenece por derecho propio a la protohistoria del cinematografo. En su pais natal colaboro con el celebre comico Max Linder y, ya en los Estados Unidos, colaboro en el exito de la actriz Pearl White, a la que dirigio en los dos populares seriales de 1914 The Perils of Pauline y The Exploits of Elaine. Se retiro a comienzos de los 40, despues de una larga carrera que no estuvo, como se ha indicado, exenta de momentos de gloria. La llegada del sonoro lo perjudico considerablemente, por razones de idioma. En 1933 y 1934 dirigio en dos ocasiones cada ano al famosisimo Carlos Gardel; las peliculas, que todavia estan en circulacion en soportes domesticos, son Esperame, Melodia de arrabal, El tango en Broadway y Cuesta abajo.
