Eis, glacies. – nix od. Plur. nives (Schnee, Stücke Schnee, die die Alten zur Erfrischung des Wassers etc. gebrauchten). – zu Eis (gefrieren) machen, glaciare (z.B. nives): zu Eis werden od. gefrieren, conglaciare; congelare; congelascere; frigore concrescere; (frigoribus) durescere: kalt wie Eis, s. eiskalt. – Sprichw., jmd. aufs Eis führen, alqm expe riri, tentare (auf die Probe stellen; auch verb, z.B. non experiendi vel tentandi gratiā); astute labefactare alqm (jmd. listig berücken, ihm ein Bein stellen).
