1 Oath of Office
1.В соответствии с Конституцией США [ Constitution, U.S.] (раздел 1 статьи II) вступающий в должность президента США приносит присягу, либо делает торжественное заявление: "Торжественно клянусь (заявляю), что буду добросовестно исполнять должность президента Соединенных Штатов и всеми силами поддерживать, охранять и защищать Конституцию Соединенных Штатов" ["I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States"]. Присягу принято приносить на Библии, однако это не обязательное требование. Присяга принимается председателем Верховного суда США [ Chief Justice of the United States]2.Аналогичная присяга, приносимая вступающим в должность губернатора штата.
