радиомаяк
Станция подвижной службы, излучения которой предназначены для облегчения операций по поиску и спасанию. Двухчастотный морской аварийный радиобуй создан для работы в международной спутниковой системе КОСПАС-САРСАТ. По двум спутниковым каналам 406,025 МГц и 121 МГц АРБ обеспечивает совместно со спутниковым бортовым радиокомплексом и наземными станциями системы КОСПАС-САРСАТ определение местоположения аварийных судов и самолётов, а также наведение поисково-спасательных средств на АРБ как на радиомаяк ближнего привода по его излучению на частоте 121,5 МГц. Передатчик АРБ на частоте 406 МГц работает в импульсном режиме с паузой примерно в 50 с. В течение одного импульса он излучает немодулированную несущую в течение времени, необходимого для его обнаружения и установления синхронизации с помощью следящей системы бортового приёмника, после чего передаются манипулированные по фазе синхросигналы и лишь затем аварийное сообщение (Регламент радиосвязи, Ст.1, п.1.93).
