Полирование.1) Процесс отделки поверхности керамики и металлов, с использованием последовательных сортов абразива.2) Сглаживание поверхности металла, часто до высокой яркости (блеска) трением поверхности с мелким абразивом, обычно содержащимся в ткани или другом мягком материале. Приводит к микроскопическому стиранию некоторого количества поверхностного металла.3) Удаление материала воздействием абразивных шлифовальных зерен, прилагаемых к заготовке подвижной опорой обычно диском или покрытой шлифовальной лентой.4) Механический, химический или электролитический процесс или их комбинация, используемые для подготовки гладкой отражающей поверхности с подходящей микроструктурой, которая не содержит повреждений, полученных во время предшествующего резания или шлифовки.См. также electrolytic polishing - Электролитическое полирование и Electropolishing - Электрополирование.
