1 Egyptian Cotton
Second only in quality to Sea Islands, and is well adapted for spinning into fine counts of high quality. It is used largely in Bolton and district. The production of this cotton is given in cantars (98-lb. to 100-lb.). Bales of Egyptian cotton are about 750-lb. There are many varieties obtained from Egypt and the Sudan, and the average crop is about one million bales of 700 to 725-lb. each. The varieties of Egyptian cotton are as follows: - -
