В ее основе лежит жидкокристаллическая матрица (как в LCD), однако, в отличие от привычных ЖК-систем она работает не на просвет, а на отражение (как в DLP). Цветное изображение формируется сложением световых потоков от трех матриц D-ILA. Основным преимуществом данной технологии являются мягкие цветовые градации и сглаживание границ между пикселями, что важно для большого экрана.
