    An all-wool overcoating of the double-face variety. Woven with a 5-shaft satin face and twill back. Piece-dyed. A typical cloth is made with 28 Yorkshire skein crossband woollen warp, 30 Yorkshire skein openband woollen-face weft, 8 Yorkshire skein woollen-back weft, in 2 face, 1 back proportion. The backing warp is 2/40's cotton, yarn dyed. The cloth has 80 picks per inch and weighs about 30-oz. per yard.

    DEVON, or MEDICAL HUCK
    This is the simplest form of huckaback weave, and is on 10 ends and 6 picks. The warp threads are usually dented three and two per dent alternately, which tends to prevent the threads splitting in the cloth and forming cracks. Woven with two picks in a shed. Woven about 58 ends and 30 double picks per inch, from 30's and 26's linen yarns, 25-in. wide cloth. Another cloth is made 26-in. wide, reed 30 porter (two and three threads alternately), reed width 281/2-in., warp 3-lb. flax (331/3 per cent loss), weft 4-lb. flax (331/3 per cent loss), 24 double shots on 37/40-in. glass, laid 111 yards, loom length 95 yards, finished length, 102 yards.   • 7 Chinchilla

    An overcoating cloth made from long fibre wool, with a rough face, but is soft and warm. The roughness is produced by small tufts in the yarn. It is a double cloth in twill weave, about 56 in wide. One warp and the wefts are wool, and a stitching warp of cotton is used. Two or more wefts may be used according to the weight required. The yarn is spun trom 10 per cent white and 90 per cent black wool and the mixture must be perfect. The loom width is 731/2-in. The back cloth may be plain dye or in plaid effects. The stitching warp is usually worsted yarn (see cut Chinchilla)
