    В кинематографии словом producer обозначают лицо, осуществляющее постановку фильма, часто (особенно в США) лицо, финансирующее фильм и, может быть, не имеющее отношения к киноискусству. Без учета этого различия producer ошибочно переводится на русский язык словами режиссер, кинорежиссер, которым соответствует английское (film) director (в свою очередь, эта должность неправильно отождествляется с административной должностью директора картины в советской кинематографии).
