These terms refer to the ratio of the weight of liquor contained in a dyebath to the weight of goods to be dyed. By a " long bath " is meant a bath where the ratio of dye liquor to cloth is greater than 6 to 1; that is, a dilute bath. Often the ratio may be as dilute as 20 to 1.
